Senior Rental Representative
About the Role
As a Senior Rental Representative at Penske, you will serve as the front-line contact with prospects and customers, managing a large fleet of vehicles, matching vehicle demand with availability, and coordinating all aspects of customer accounts to ensure complete satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Compute charges for merchandise or services and receive payments.
- Prepare merchandise for display, purchase, or rental.
- Recommend and provide advice on a wide variety of products and services.
- Answer telephones to provide information and receive orders.
- Greet customers and discuss the type, quality, and quantity of merchandise sought for rental.
- Keep records of transactions and customer interactions.
- Prepare rental forms, obtaining customer signatures and required information, such as licenses.
- Inspect and adjust rental items to meet customer needs.
- Explain rental fees, policies, and procedures.
- Confer with customers by telephone or in person to provide information, take orders, cancel accounts, or address complaints.
- Record details of inquiries, complaints, comments, and actions taken.
- Resolve service or billing complaints by exchanging merchandise, refunding money, or adjusting bills.
- Ensure appropriate changes were made to resolve customer problems.
- Contact customers to respond to inquiries or notify them of claim investigation results and planned adjustments.
- Refer unresolved customer grievances to designated departments for further investigation.
- Determine charges for services, collect deposits or payments, or arrange for billing.
- Complete contract forms, prepare change of address records, and issue service discontinuance orders using computers.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of customer service experience required.
- Sales experience (retail, consumer, B2B) preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; some college or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to work at least one day on the weekend required.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong customer service skills, including dealing with people, flexibility, phone skills, and teamwork.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
Qualifications
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and requires a current driver qualification file, including:
- Annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check.
- Successfully completed DOT Physical.
- Safety Performance History records request from prior employers in the last 3 years.
- For CDL holders: DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and complete a Penske employment application, background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history), and drug screening are required. This role is designated as safety-sensitive, requiring the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
