About the role
We are seeking a Senior Regulatory Analyst to join a high‑impact team focused on wholesale electricity market policy across North America. This role goes beyond traditional regulatory compliance, with a focus on translating complex policy developments into actionable business insights that inform investment decisions and commercial strategy.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and actively participate in stakeholder proceedings across RTOs/ISOs, including PJM, MISO, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE, CAISO, and ERCOT
- Develop and maintain relationships with RTO stakeholders, regulators, and other IPPs to strengthen LS Power’s market presence and influence
- Represent LS Power in working groups and industry discussions, contributing to policy development and advocacy efforts
- Analyze regulatory proposals and rule changes, translating them into clear assessments of commercial and investment implications
- Advise development, asset management, and trading teams on regulatory developments that impact portfolio strategy and asset performance
- Prepare internal briefings and materials for senior leadership linking policy developments to business strategy
- Support the development of company positions and stakeholder engagement strategies across multiple markets
- Coincide with external consultants and industry partners, integrating their insights into LS Power’s regulatory and commercial strategy
- Develop frameworks to assess how market rule changes impact asset economics, competitive positioning, and future investment opportunities
Qualifications
- Think critically about policy and understand how regulatory decisions impact market participants and asset economics
- Are comfortable engaging externally and can build relationships with RTOs, regulators, and industry peers
- Communicate clearly and confidently across both internal and external audiences
- Can translate complex regulatory concepts into actionable business insights
- Are self‑directed and able to manage multiple markets and priorities concurrently
- Bring strong judgment and understand the “so what” behind regulatory developments
- Ideally, you have a Bachelor’s degree required (advanced degree in economics, public policy, engineering, or law preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in wholesale electricity markets, energy policy, utility regulation, or a related field
- Direct experience engaging with RTO/ISO stakeholder processes and FERC proceedings
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with industry participants, including RTO staff, regulators, and IPPs
- Strong understanding of power markets, market design, and regulatory frameworks
- Experience supporting or advising commercial, development, or trading teams in an energy organization
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including experience with financial modeling or quantitative analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
