Senior Refrigeration Technician

As a Senior Refrigeration Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing the specialized refrigeration and scientific equipment that preserves valuable research samples and supports essential laboratory operations. In this hands-on role, you will perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and operation of a diverse range of systems, including ice machines, cold rooms, laboratory refrigerators, -20°C and -80°C freezers, low-temperature centrifuges, and other scientific equipment with integrated refrigeration systems. You will help ensure uninterrupted research activities by diagnosing complex issues, implementing effective solutions, and adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain chilled water and steam heat systems (excluding generation).
- Maintain potable water distribution and associated equipment.
- Manage de-ionized water generation systems.
- Oversee emergency power systems.
- Monitor and respond to the energy management system (EMS) alarms.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and repair programs for all facility support systems.
- Provide refrigeration support for the facility.
- Perform minor electrical repairs and modifications.
- Be available to work other shifts as necessary.
- Wear ANSI class 75 safety shoes as required.
- Assist with life safety or security situations as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years of maintenance mechanic experience, including three years of refrigeration equipment maintenance and repair.
- EPA certificate.
