Senior Radiology Technologist
About the role
This position is responsible for performing quality radiologic exams and providing compassionate patient care for patients in all age groups from neonate through geriatric. The incumbent assumes responsibility for workflow management in their assigned area and operates various types of x-ray equipment, Dexa equipment, and auxiliary equipment at an advanced level to provide diagnostic images for interpretation by a radiologist.
Responsibilities
- Performs quality radiologic exams and provides compassionate patient care for patients in all age groups from neonate through geriatric.
- Operates various types of x-ray equipment, Dexa equipment, and auxiliary equipment at an advanced level to provide diagnostic images for interpretation by a radiologist.
- Assumes responsibility for workflow management in their assigned area.
- Complies and adheres to department protocols, UCDH Policies and Procedures, Department of Radiology Policies and Procedures and other applicable work rules and regulations.
- Adapts to new programs and equipment upgrades as the radiological field advances.
- Diagnoses and treats human injuries, diseases, and deformities using knowledge of physical principles, laws, and their interrelationships.
- Archives, retrieves, and handles exceptions with the PACS system.
- Administers CPR.
- Communicates clearly and effectively on the telephone, in person, and in writing.
- Organizes workload by priority to produce a sufficient volume of work in a timely manner.
- Performs additional duties including but not limited to clerical duties when necessary.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)CA, Fluoroscopic Permit, American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS).
- No Minimum Education requirement within 6 months from hire date, the employee must demonstrate “Very Competent” proficiency and routinely perform at their primary job location, 3 or more of the following: Fluoroscopy (GI/GU), Fluoroscopy (Pediatrics), Fluoroscopy (MSK), DEXA Mobile Fluoroscopy (C-arm and O-arm*).
- Knowledge and ability to operate imaging equipment to provide quality images.
- Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understand fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub-atomic structures and processes.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
- Knowledge and ability to fill out departmental and hospital report forms and records.
- Knowledge and ability to use computer terminal.
- Knowledge of anatomy, including cross-sectional anatomy and related positioning.
- Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures sufficient to effectively perform job functions or refer to others.
- Knowledge of standard keyboard, ability to input/retrieve data accurately and to observe applicable Radiology Information System (RIS) and Information Services (IS) access codes, security, and patient privacy.
- Self-starter requiring minimal direction from supervisor or physicians.
- Skill to instruct or train personnel in regarding to the technical functions of classification.
- Skill to communicate clearly and effectively on the telephone, in person and written document.
- Skill to organize workload by priority to produce a sufficient volume of work in a timely manner.
- Willingness to perform additional duties including but not limited to clerical duties when necessary.

- Must be able to work variable hours, alternate shifts, and occasional overtime to provide coverage as needed for sick leave, staffing shortages, etc.
