Senior Quality Engineer

Since Power Connector's recent acquisition under Amphenol, this transition brings the need to enhance and grow the company through restructuring, modernization, optimization, and business development. The Senior Quality Engineer plays a critical role in contributing to the fundamental changes transforming Power Connector, focusing on enhancing and strengthening the internal Quality Management System by developing and optimizing quality processes, procedures, and documentation.
About the role
This full-time, on-site role based in Bohemia, NY oversees and improves quality systems and processes across the product lifecycle—from design and prototyping through high-volume manufacturing. The Senior Quality Engineer collaborates with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to establish product quality standards, implement inspection plans, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position also trains team members on quality best practices, prepares quality documentation and reports, and supports audits and customer reviews.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain quality procedures, conduct root-cause analysis, and lead corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015 and customer-specific requirements
- Interface with quality personnel at customer and supplier levels
- Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required
- Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
- Perform visual inspections of finished products and grade, classify, or sort products according to sizes, weights, colors, or other specifications
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 requirements
- Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, conditioning samples, finished goods, or stability samples
- Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded
- Discard or reject products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications
- Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status
- Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on appropriateness of data for release
- Maintain all Quality Control documentation
- Assist in all Quality Control activities as directed
- Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems
- Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures, including data record forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms
- Calibrate, validate, or maintain quality control equipment
- Develop and conduct computational analysis for internal and external validation testing as necessary
- Initiate and maintain communication with suppliers for ongoing issues; create and submit Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) as needed and assess SCAR response
- Assess discrepant material, create Discrepant Material Request, and notify Material Review Board for disposition
- Identify root causes and applicable corrective actions related to quality issues
- Execute quality control protocols and provide feedback to management for potential improvements
- Develop documentation needed to support testing procedures, including data record forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms for New Product Introduction
- Conduct and record internal trainings to ensure compliance to quality procedures
- Provide support to other engineering areas of operation
- Perform any additional tasks necessary to execute on the team’s strategy for operational sustainability, improvement, and optimization
