About the role

As the Senior Quality Engineer, you will ensure product quality, drive continuous improvement, and serve as the primary quality interface with semiconductor equipment customers. This role works closely with customers, manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues, improve manufacturing processes, and ensure compliance with customer and industry quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary quality representative for semiconductor equipment customers.
  • Build strong customer relationships by responding promptly to quality concerns, corrective actions, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead investigations of customer complaints using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, A3, DMAIC).
  • Drive containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure timely resolution.
  • Monitor and improve key quality metrics including PPM, yield, first-pass yield, escapes, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to improve product and process quality.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI), design reviews, PFMEA, control plans, and process validations.
  • Analyze quality data and identify trends to drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Lead internal, customer, and supplier quality audits.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality management systems.
  • Collaborate with supplier quality engineering activities including supplier corrective actions, qualification, and performance improvement.
  • Develop inspection plans, quality procedures, and work instructions.
  • Review engineering changes for quality impact and support implementation.
  • Travel to customer and supplier sites as required.
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM field.
  • 10+ years of quality engineering experience in semiconductor equipment, precision manufacturing, or high-tech industries.
  • Strong customer-facing experience supporting semiconductor OEMs.
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor equipment manufacturing processes, precision machining, assemblies, and electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, A3, DMAIC).
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Pay

The salary range for this role is relevant to applicants who reside or work in the Livermore, CA area only. Salary offers will depend on experience, knowledge, skills, education, and location.
