About the role
Plan, manage, and maintain the timely and cost-effective procurement of complete goods and services for the university and provide leadership and assistance in the daily and routine management of the Purchasing Department.
Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing process from request to receipt of goods and services
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with university policies and state/provincial regulations
- Oversee the inventory management system to ensure adequate stock levels and minimize waste
- Collaborate with other departments to identify and secure necessary supplies and equipment
- Prepare and analyze purchase orders, invoices, and reports
- Respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to procurement activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain management
- Knowledge of purchasing procedures, contract management, and inventory control
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access
Qualifications
- Experience working in a higher education environment is preferred
- Knowledge of university-specific purchasing policies and procedures
