Job Summary

The Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility (CF) (Supervisor) position is located at Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP), Soledad, CA, Monterey County. This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent. Recruitment and Retention Bonuses may be available for clinicians newly hired with California Correctional Health Care Services.

About the Role

Under the general direction of the Chief Psychologist, Correctional Facility (CF), the Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility (CF) (Supervisor) is responsible for the direct training and clinical/administrator supervision of subordinate staff psychologists as assigned. He/she will perform the most difficult psychological evaluations and associated treatment of incarcerated patients, assist in program development and evaluation, research, training, clinical consultation, and revision of department policy and procedures. The incumbent will function as a specialized psychological consultant to the institutional staff upon request.

Responsibilities

  • Directly train and clinically/administratively supervise subordinate staff psychologists as assigned.
  • Perform the most difficult psychological evaluations and associated treatment of incarcerated patients.
  • Aid in program development and evaluation, research, training, clinical consultation, and revision of department policy and procedures.
  • Function as a specialized psychological consultant to the institutional staff upon request.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Psychology or related field.
  • Valid California Psychological Clinical Supervisor license.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a correctional setting.
  • Experience in conducting psychological evaluations and treatments.
  • Knowledge of correctional psychology principles and practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with inmates, staff, and other professionals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly those used in psychological assessments and documentation.
