About the Role

This is a part-time Psychologist, CF position located at Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) in Soledad, Monterey County. The position works 24 hours per week.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires a 3% base salary reduction for all employees in Bargaining Unit 19, with 5 PLP 2025 leave credits provided monthly through June 2027. Part-time employees are subject to these conditions on a prorated basis.

This position is subject to Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) authorization, with an authorized HAM salary range of $6,897.60 to $8,362.20 per month. A recruitment and retention bonus may be available for newly hired clinicians, including a potential one-time $10,000 stipend and a monthly differential totaling $20,000 during the first year, contingent on eligibility. CDCR/CCHCS employees may also be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preadmission screenings and psychological evaluations of inmates admitted to the program.
  • Provide crisis intervention, individual therapy, treatment, and discharge planning.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team evaluations and consult with psychiatrists, nursing staff, and other professionals.
  • Engage in clinical duties throughout the institution, including participation in staff meetings, institutional committees, and consultations with custody staff.
  • Supervise and train students, interns, unlicensed psychologists, and other staff.
  • Participate in program evaluation and research, including consultation on research design and data analysis.

Benefits

  • Recruitment and retention stipend of $10,000 (one-time) for eligible new hires, contingent on six months of employment.
  • Monthly recruitment and retention differential totaling $20,000 during the first year for eligible employees.
  • $5,000 referral bonus for CDCR/CCHCS employees who refer a candidate successfully hired and employed for 90 days.
  • 5 PLP 2025 leave credits provided monthly through June 2027 (subject to 3% base salary reduction).

Pay

Monthly part-time salary range: $6,897.60 to $8,362.20.

Schedule

Part-time position working 24 hours per week.
