SENIOR PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN (SAFETY)

About the role

The Senior Psychiatric Technician (SPT) position in Program V at Patton State Hospital is under the direct supervision of the Unit Supervisor (Safety).

Responsibilities

• Supervise the work and development of the level of care staff in a forensic unit.
• Provide basic level of general and psychiatric nursing care to mentally ill patients.
• Coordinate and oversee direct patient care activities.
• Provide guidance and direction to unit staff.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to support patient treatment and hospital operations.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• May be assigned especially difficult or complex duties where the only supervision exercised is over patients/clients, including directing, coordinating, and monitoring patient participation in therapeutic programs and activities to promote treatment goals and maintain a safe and secure environment.

Requirements

• Pass a Drug Screening prior to employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a state-approved training program in psychiatric nursing or related field.
• Current California Driver’s License.
• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to pass a background check.

• Sound judgment and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced forensic treatment setting.

Pay

• $6,638.00 - $7,730.00 S
• $6,927.00 - $8,320.00 T
• $7,237.00 - $8,733.00 U
