Key job responsibilities

  • Design scalable, secure AWS solutions that deliver measurable customer business outcomes across HCLS development lifecycle
  • Provide technical guidance during sales and implementation phases, focusing on pharmaceutical domain challenges including clinical data management, regulatory submissions (eCTD), study conduct optimization, and GxP compliance
  • Partner with customers on industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly agentic AI applications in clinical trial automation, clinical data standardization (CDISC SDTM/ADaM), electronic data capture (EDC), and clinical trial management systems (CTMS)
  • Collaborate with Account Executives and Delivery Teams to ensure successful solution implementation
  • Work with AWS experts and external partners to accelerate innovation
  • Share knowledge through coaching, demos, accelerators, and technical documentation

About the role

The Amazon Web Services Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking an experienced ProServe Cloud Architect (PCA) to join our team in Europe. In this role, you'll work directly with pharmaceutical and life sciences customers, including senior technology and business leaders, to understand their business objectives and translate them into innovative cloud and AI solutions that drive meaningful impact in pharmaceutical innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Create and lead solution designs to address customer business outcomes (CBO) in the pharmaceutical domain
  • Ensure proposed solutions are realistic, achievable, and optimized to maximize CBOs
  • Lead cloud modernization and AI transformation initiatives
  • Design scalable AWS solutions that address complex clinical development challenges including clinical trial management, clinical data operations, regulatory submissions, and study lifecycle optimization from protocol design through database lock
  • Architect complex, scalable, and secure solutions tailored to meet specific customer needs, translating technical concepts into business value
  • Impact SOW signings and successful solution implementations that achieve CBOs while exceeding customer satisfaction (CSAT) expectations
  • Provide guidance on industry trends, emerging technologies, and agentic AI applications specific to pharma
  • Collaborate with expert teams including our Gen AI Innovation Center, Industry Sales, and Product teams to bring leading-edge innovation to customers
  • Share knowledge within the organization through mentoring, training, and creating reusable tools such as demos, accelerators, and white papers

Requirements

  • 5+ years of cloud architecture and solution implementation experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
  • Experience positioning, articulating business value, and selling enterprise cloud architecture and solutions to customer executives and technical stakeholders, including developing proposals, leading technical conversations, and driving adoption of cloud services aligned to customer business outcomes
  • Experience designing and solutioning AI/ML, generative AI, enterprise-scale data platform, and/or agentic AI solutions in enterprise environments
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or payer industry, with a working understanding of key business domains (e.g., R&D, clinical development, regulatory, manufacturing, supply chain, or commercial) and familiarity with industry data standards, compliance frameworks (GxP, HIPAA, GDPR), and enterprise platforms

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of AWS services including compute, storage, networking, security, databases, machine learning, and serverless technologies
  • Experience in performance optimization and cost management for cloud environments
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences in pre-sales environments
  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards including HIPAA and GDPR
  • Experience designing and solutioning agentic AI architectures in enterprise environments, including multi-agent orchestration, autonomous workflows, and AI-driven decision systems that address complex business processes such as clinical data operations, regulatory workflows, or supply chain optimization
  • Experience building and maintaining executive-level relationships with pharmaceutical or payer technology leaders, translating complex cloud modernization and AI transformation architectures into business value propositions and strategic roadmaps that drive customer business outcomes (CBOs), SOW signings, and measurable customer satisfaction
