About the Role

The primary function of the Senior Project Superintendent is to control all field activities related to one or more projects including all on-site field administration, supervision, and technical management of all construction operations. This role requires supervision and mentoring of Project Superintendent(s), Assistant Project Superintendent(s), Field Engineer(s), and laborers, as well as oversight of daily construction operations, subcontractors, owner vendors, and other construction-related personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise projects with budgets ranging from $60M - $150M+ under various delivery methods and market sectors.
  • Manage and organize a large project staff, including multiple WEO personalities, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Oversee one or more projects simultaneously with adequate support staff.
  • Participate in the RFQ/RFP process to secure work as the Senior Project Superintendent.
  • Maintain industry relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Hold team members accountable for their areas of responsibility.
  • Resolve conflicts between field and project management staff.
  • Provide and receive objective feedback from project staff and upper management.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce project-specific site logistics plans, safety programs, and temporary facilities.
  • Coordinate and manage material deliveries and subcontracts.
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing scopes of work for bid packages and subcontractor subcontracts.
  • Provide input on field activities impacting the Change Order process.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce baseline schedules and 8-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Implement and manage SWPPP measures and documentation.
  • Maintain QSP certification if required by the project.
  • Understand and enforce all project documents, including plans, specifications, contracts, and submittals.
  • Maintain accurate working documents and As-Builts.
  • Provide technical assistance to the project team and coordinate field inspections and testing.
  • Assist in providing field information for Monthly Reconciliation Reports and forecasts.
  • Develop and enforce project-specific quality control programs.
  • Prepare and maintain P6 baseline schedules and monthly updates, including 8-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Document schedule delays and insert fragnets into the master P6 schedule.
  • Monitor job site control reporting measures and assign areas of the project to field support staff.
  • Document existing project conditions via video recording prior to construction.
  • Take and file weekly progress photos on Box.com.
  • Conduct or delegate meeting minutes for weekly subcontractor, pre-installation, and safety meetings.
  • Create and issue project-specific Incident Reports.
  • Schedule, chair, or delegate JHA-related meetings, utilizing the WEO safety department when applicable.
  • Oversee daily coordination of subcontractor activities.
  • Provide input on field activities with cost impacts and follow WEO procedures for documenting change orders and back charges.
  • Document actions related to actual or possible claims/legal action.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance, labor relations, and EEO requirements.
  • Supervise WEO-employed or third-party laborers and submit weekly time sheets.
  • Assist in developing the General Conditions budget and subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Enforce WEO and Cal-OSHA safety standards.
  • Collect man counts and write daily reports for each subcontractor on site.
  • Create and manage completion and punch lists to ensure timely completion.
  • Mentor field staff and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Develop a coaching tree of successful Project Superintendents, Assistant Project Superintendents, and Field Engineers.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 10-15 years of relevant project field experience as a Field Engineer, Assistant Project Superintendent, Project Superintendent, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, or P6 Scheduling Software.
  • Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Viewpoint, CMiC, or equivalent.
  • Experience using daily software tools like Bluebeam, Plan Grid, Safety Mojo, BIM 360 Glue, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction delivery methods, market sectors, construction administration, building trades, and technical aspects of construction.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Safety Course.
  • First Aid and CPR certified.

Pay

$170,000 - $225,000 / year

Physical Demands

  • Climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Sit, talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at construction work sites exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
