Senior Project Manager, Water
What You Will Do
GFT is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Water to join our Stormwater Team in Richmond, VA! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Richmond, VA office.
What You’ll Be Challenged To Do
- Work closely with our technical experts, project teams, and client service managers to advance our technical services and support business development on a wide variety of stormwater projects in Virginia.
- Provide all aspects of engineering for stormwater projects for public and municipal utility district clients.
- Lead and oversee design and technical aspects of the team(s) projects including detailed engineering design and calculations, report writing, permitting, and presentations to clients.
- Write responses to client RFQs and Solicitations.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials and community leaders.
- Coverage and monitoring project tasks, budgets, and schedules.
- Coordinate and manage project tasks, budgets, and schedules.
- Participate in the development of company design and production standards.
- Direct and manage the implementation of a project including coordination with project stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and other external and internal parties to achieve project milestones.
- Oversee and manage construction phases of projects to ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract documents, on time and budget.
- Participate in professional associations and civic organizations within the community.
- Support client marketing and business development activities required to procure project assignments, including development of scope, schedule and budget for proposals.
- Mentor staff and lead development of other PMs.
What You Will Bring To Our Firm
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in the State of Virginia.
- 15 or more years' experience managing substantial stormwater projects from conception to completion.
- Demonstrated strong project management skills.
- Successful record of delivering projects on schedule, budget and meeting the client's needs.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation.
- Knowledge of local codes, development processes, and utility regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deliver on time and within budget.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials and community leaders.
- Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and technical professionals.
- Actively involved in professional associations and civic organizations.
Education | Experience

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $200,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
