About the role

Halff is seeking a Florida-licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to serve as Project Manager on our Florida Transportation team in Orlando. The ideal candidate will have civil engineering design experience with a focus on delivering and/or managing projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), particularly in Districts 1, 5, and 7. Responsibilities

  • Work under a Transportation Team Leader to develop roadway design projects for FDOT.
  • Collaborate with design staff, consultants, and clients to deliver projects contributing to the growth and safety of Florida roadways.
  • Manage transportation projects or tasks in support of business needs.
  • Assist in managing the workload of design staff, including Engineers, EITs, and technical staff.
  • Assist in developing and managing project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Review transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency.
  • Report on project progress.
  • Collaborate with clients and other consultants.
  • Support business development activities with the Transportation Team Leader and Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or an ABET-accredited equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in civil, public works, or transportation project delivery, with at least 6 years post-PE License preferred.
  • Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Florida.
  • Ability to lead projects and supervise technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and review in MicroStation.
  • Experience designing, overseeing, and reviewing roadway projects for FDOT and local municipalities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, self-directed yet team-oriented, with a focus on quality, integrity, and success.
