About the Role
A well-established heavy civil construction contractor with over a century of experience is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager. The company specializes in road construction, milling, and other civil infrastructure projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. This role is ideal for a proven construction professional who can take ownership of projects from preconstruction through final closeout while collaborating with field leadership, clients, subcontractors, and company management.
Responsibilities
- Manage heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through completion
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
- Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, vendors, equipment, and material needs
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project requirements
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation
- Track project costs, production, quantities, and overall financial performance
- Maintain strong communication with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Identify project risks and proactively resolve scheduling, cost, and operational challenges
- Support procurement and subcontractor negotiations
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project and field teams
- Ensure projects meet company standards for safety, quality, schedule, and profitability
- Assist with preconstruction, budgeting, bid reviews, and project handoff
Qualifications
- 7+ years of construction project management experience, preferably within heavy civil construction
- Strong background in road construction, milling, grading, earthwork, site development, or related civil infrastructure
- Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, change orders, and financial performance
- Strong understanding of heavy civil field operations and construction methods
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with public and/or private infrastructure projects preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred but not required
- Estimating experience is a plus, including takeoffs, bid preparation, cost analysis, and preconstruction
