About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support our multi-disciplinary design team addressing the most challenging engineering tasks in power generation. AECOM's broad technical capabilities, global footprint, and experience in executing large-scale projects uniquely position us to lead in renewable, traditional steam, thermal power generation, and advanced nuclear technologies, including first-of-a-kind programs like the innovative stellarator fusion power plant.

This role offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices across the United States. We seek a project professional able to manage the project lifecycle from the basis of design stage through issuance of deliverables, ensuring seamless coordination between internal and external stakeholders. This position requires a strong understanding of engineering design, interconnection, utility markets, and construction processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects as the primary project/program manager.
  • Take ownership of internal project financials, staffing, legal coordination, and risk management.
  • Facilitate planning and kickoff meetings to ensure alignment among all project stakeholders.
  • Support projects through the complete lifecycle: feasibility, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning.
  • Facilitate the design process, including conducting "page-turn design reviews" and equipment fabrication reviews at key milestones (30%, 60%, and 100% design completion).
  • Work closely with the technical delivery team (including subcontractors) to confirm deliverables and services exceed client satisfaction, coordinating with global team members.
  • Deliver projects in accordance with the AECOM Quality Management System (QMS) process.
  • Provide proposal support and capture leadership for business development activities, including identifying project opportunities, facilitating go/no-go decisions, determining project fees, writing proposals, preparing client presentations, and negotiating contracts.
  • Develop client relationships through existing contracts and manage key accounts while developing new ones.
  • Occasional travel to client or project sites.
  • Oversee overall project management administration, establish project-specific objectives and policies, and enforce company/project policies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between AECOM and clients, ensuring all project facets are delivered on design, budget, and schedule through subordinate managers.
  • Administer projects from budgeting/schedule stage through procurement and contract closeout, with significant profit/loss responsibility.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree and 6 years of relevant project management experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Project Management experience directly related to power generation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex engineering projects and/or programs.

Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Professional Engineering Licensure (PE).
  • Nuclear project experience.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in power generation or heavy industrial projects.
  • Experience managing projects in collaborative model environments (e.g., Navisworks, BIM/ACC).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale, complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success working in a remote team environment.
