Senior Project Manager - Energy
About the role
AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support our multi-disciplinary design team addressing the most challenging engineering tasks in power generation. AECOM's broad technical capabilities, global footprint, and experience in executing large-scale projects uniquely position us to lead in renewable, traditional steam, thermal power generation, and advanced nuclear technologies, including participation in first-of-a-kind programs such as the innovative stellarator fusion power plant.
For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices across the United States. We seek a project professional able to manage the project lifecycle from the project basis of design stage through the issuance of deliverables, ensuring seamless coordination between internal and external stakeholders. This position requires a strong understanding of engineering design, interconnection, utility markets, and construction processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned projects as the project/program manager, taking ownership of internal project financials, staffing, legal coordination, and risk management.
- Facilitate planning and kickoff meetings to ensure alignment among all project stakeholders.
- Support projects through the complete lifecycle, including feasibility, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning.
- Facilitate the design process, including conducting "page-turn design reviews" and equipment fabrication reviews at key project milestones (30%, 60%, and 100% design completion).
- Work closely with the technical delivery team (including subcontractors) to confirm deliverables and services exceed client satisfaction, coordinating with global team members.
- Deliver projects in accordance with the AECOM Quality Management System (QMS) process.
- Provide proposal support and capture leadership for business development activities, including identifying project opportunities, facilitating go/no-go decisions, determining project fees, writing proposals, preparing and leading client presentations, and negotiating contracts.
- Develop client relationships through existing contracts and manage key accounts while developing new ones.
- Occasional travel to client or project sites.
Level-specific responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall management and administration of projects, assisting in establishing project-specific objectives and policies.
- Provide management and guidance to subordinate managers, enforce company and project policies, and serve as the primary liaison between AECOM and clients.
- Oversee and ensure all facets of the project are delivered in accordance with design, budget, and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.
- Administer the project from budgeting/schedule stage through procurement and contract closeout, with significant profit/loss responsibility.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree and 6 years of relevant project management experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Project Management experience directly related to power generation projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex engineering projects and/or programs.
Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Professional Engineering Licensure (PE).
- Nuclear project experience.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in power generation or heavy industrial projects.
- Experience managing projects in collaborative model environments (e.g., Navisworks, BIM/ACC).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale, complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated success working in a remote team environment.

Pay
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $140,000 to $180,000 yearly.
Relocation assistance may be available for this position. Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
