Senior Project Manager (Chief of Staff)
About the role
As a Senior Project Manager at Capital One, you will lead critical and strategic business projects, working closely with key stakeholders to deliver results that impact the company's bottom line. You will manage the operational rhythm of the business, including leadership meetings, business reviews, and goal/OKR tracking. You will also drive associate engagement and culture initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage the operational "rhythm of the business" for the tower, including the design, execution, and optimization of leadership meetings, business reviews, and goal/OKR tracking.
- Lead internal communication strategies and channels (e.g., Slack, team newsletters, executive comms and decks) to ensure strategic alignment and transparency across the organization.
- Drive associate engagement and culture initiatives, analyzing team sentiment/AAS to design impactful programs that enhance morale, retention, and inclusion.
- Work on medium to large-scale complex, cross-departmental projects that have a direct impact on the company.
- Drive cross-functional projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed; manage complex up and downstream project impacts.
- Plan, design, manage and execute project plans to ensure delivery. This activity includes management through feasibility, design, planning and implementation.
- Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and maintain key project documentation.
- Conduct regular meetings with the project team. Document progress and report to stakeholders on project status.
- Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery.
- Forge relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments.
- Identify ways to improve and streamline business process.
Qualifications
- Exhibit a proven track record of project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work.
- Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes.
- Display strong organizational agility to adapt to changing demands.
- Show strong consulting and collaboration skills.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
- At least 3 years of Project Management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters / MBA degree
- At least 5 years of Project Management experience
- At least 1 year of People Management experience
- PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

Pay
Salaries for this role vary by location, ranging from $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Project Manager in Chicago, IL to $120,100 for Sr. Project Manager in Richmond, VA. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
