About the role
A Senior Project Manager oversees the design and completion of architectural projects. They manage teams producing high-quality project deliverables in construction documents across Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration phases.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage project teams to produce quality sets of documents that comply with deliverable requirements for all project phases.
- Ensure the project conforms to contractual agreements with clients, meeting all set budgets, goals, and work assignments.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to assign tasks to office support staff, consultants, and vendors.
- Organize and direct architectural and/or engineering teams to execute work in an orderly, timely, and coordinated manner.
- Mentor junior staff with responsibility oversight of their assignments.
- Maintain positive client relationships throughout the project, keeping clients informed of progress regularly.
- Initiate and maintain contact with key project individuals for clarification, coordination, and negotiation of critical issues.
- Lead the generation of construction documents including detailing and finish application, ensuring adherence to design intent and carrying through to completion.
- Support Client Executive and/or Principal Architect in supervision and delegation of work.
- Occasionally travel may be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related field is required.
- An Architecture License is preferred.
- 7+ years of professional experience are preferred.
- Ability to professionally communicate both verbally and in writing to give assignments to office support staff, consultants, and vendors.
- Willingness to make decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgment; support and explain reasoning for decisions; include appropriate people in decision-making process; make timely decisions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using AutoCAD/Revit programs.
- Working knowledge of graphic programs (SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suites) is a plus.
- For California-specific Senior Project Managers: DSA experience is required.
- Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
- Knowledge of building codes is required.
