About the Role
The Senior Project Design Lead will mentor and support project design leads through the design process from Preliminary/30% through IFC drawings for one or more utility-scale solar PV facilities. This role ensures project design leads have the support and tools needed to achieve reliable, quality, and safe designs. Responsibilities include overseeing professional relationships with Engineers of Record, supporting subcontracting efforts, and identifying areas for process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and guidance to project design leads and associate design leads as directed by management.
- Train associate design leads to prepare them for the project design lead role.
- Attend design reviews and provide feedback on engineering deliverables.
- Support the creation and review of EOR contracts by facilitating collaboration between the engineer of record and internal teams.
- Review and suggest changes to EPC contracts and scope exhibits.
- Assist in assigning projects to design leads by forecasting internal needs based on the project pipeline.
- Develop standards and processes to streamline project design lead tasks and procedures.
- Lead or track new process initiatives with project design leads and internal team members.
- Act as the main design lead for projects when necessary.
- Ensure project designs consider installation methods, long-term operations, and maintenance.
- Consult field operations trade specialists for requirements and recommendations.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, Engineers of Record, subcontractors, vendors, and coworkers.
- Promote company values, culture, and professional representation.
- Identify opportunities to add value through engineering design.
- Facilitate economic analysis and value engineering to determine cost-effective solutions.
- Incorporate value engineering into future designs.
Up to 25% travel required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 7+ years of experience in design, design process management, or design execution.
- Experience with utility-scale solar PV projects and/or renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of the engineering design process and field experience in utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Ability to coordinate multiple teams of engineers and manage complex tasks across projects and disciplines.
- Experience with 2+ disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning).
- Experience in the EPC process and the electrical renewable field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email) and Visio.
- Strong communication (oral, written, presentation), motivation, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks effectively.

Pay
$120,000 - $160,000 per year (full-time schedule).
