About the role
Responsible for transporting enrolled volunteers from a designated pick-up site to a designated host setting. The Driver will assist the Senior Programs Supervisors and Coordinators with site visits and community events.
Responsibilities
- Transport volunteers as necessary in an agency vehicle.
- Keep required logs; prepare and write reports.
- Demonstrate commitment to the social sector with a passion for MCHS’s mission and vision.
- Operate within the guidelines of the Employee Handbook, programs Operation Manual, and agency policies and procedures.
- Keep agency vehicles clean and ensure routine oil changes and maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Commercial driving experience required.
- Must be congenial, patient, and reliable with the ability to relate to staff and senior clients and gain their respect and confidence.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
- Attend agency trainings and maintain necessary certifications as determined by the agency.
- Maintain a Michigan chauffeur’s license, automobile liability insurance coverage, and an excellent driving record that allows the operation of an agency vehicle to transport foster grandparents as needed.
Work Environment
The work environment described here is representative of that which an employee will typically encounter during a normal shift. Work is performed in the office, pick-up sites, and host sites. Frequent travel may involve exposure to seasonal weather conditions, communicable diseases, and unsafe environments. Work may involve standing, walking, or driving for multiple hours during the work shift.
