About the role

This position involves generating various types of correspondence and providing information for statistical and narrative reports. It also includes processing incoming Power of Attorney requests, applying VA FOIA/Privacy Act rules and regulations, and providing administrative support to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Generate correspondence and reports using various systems like CAPRI, COVERS, VACOLS, PCGL, PIES, SHARE, ARCIS, RRS, VBMS, Adobe, eMilrecs, and Microsoft Word.
  • Process incoming Power of Attorney requests, ensuring proper revocation and updating master records.
  • Explain VA FOIA/Privacy Act programs and entitlement criteria to veterans and their dependents.
  • Affirmatively redact Personally Identifiable Information (PII) according to VA guidelines.
  • Provide administrative support to the team, including obtaining resources and securing information.
  • Act as a liaison between the supervisor and employees, facilitating communication and resource acquisition.
  • Train unit employees to maintain current and accurate knowledge of procedures, policies, and directives.

Requirements

The position requires a U.S. Citizenship and proficiency in using various software and systems to produce and transmit documents, reports, and correspondence. It also demands familiarity with VA FOIA/Privacy Act rules and regulations, as well as the ability to act as a liaison and provide training.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
  • Experience using various software to produce and transmit documents, reports, and correspondence.
  • Experience utilizing automated computer systems to enter data and maintain case files.
  • Experience performing standard clerical duties, including maintaining suspense and follow-up systems.
  • Experience reviewing forms and documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Experience acting as a liaison between Regional Offices and other Government Agencies such as Department of Defense and NARA.

Physical Requirements

The work is mostly sedentary; however, there may be some walking, standing, and carrying of light items.
