About the role
The City of Torrance is recruiting for Senior Program Specialists to be part of the Community Services Team. The Department offers residents opportunities to contribute to specialized areas such as Cultural Arts, Library, Parks and Recreation.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and directs major Community Services special events and programs within a specialty area.
- Supervises multiple sites or complex site operations.
- Works evenings and weekends as part of the regular schedule.
Requirements
- Graduation from High School or equivalent with two years of increasingly responsible part-time experience as a Program Specialist.
- A BA/BS in Recreation, Cultural Studies, or a related field is desirable.
- Negative tuberculin test.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License.
- Certification in Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Cardiopulsation Resuscitation (CPR) is desirable.
Qualifications
- Ability to work on a computer and with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate, both orally and in writing.
- Understanding of conflict resolution.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to train, supervise, and provide direction to subordinate part-time personnel.
- Perform job duties under minimal supervision.
- Work night and weekend hours as a part of the regular schedule.
