Senior Program Manager, Rental Strategy, Middle Mile Fleet

About the role

The Global Fleet and Products (GFP) Middle Mile Fleet team is seeking a Senior Program Manager to lead new programs aimed at making Amazon the leader in sustainable transportation. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, working closely with various departments to bring innovative solutions to market.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new programs to enhance sustainability in transportation.

  • Work cross-functionally with Business Development, Core Operations, Legal, Finance, Network Planning, and executive teams to bring products to market.

  • Own variable fleet strategy for North America Middle Mile power units, including operation plan, budget, rental vehicle specification, rental process, contracts, procurement, delivery, and disposition.

  • Negotiate and manage third-party rental partnerships to ensure adequate capacity during peak and year-round operations.

  • Perform financial analysis and budget tracking for variable fleet programs, making data-driven decisions to optimize costs.

  • Develop strategies to improve fleet utilization, increase acceptance rates, and balance supply constraints with operational demands.

  • Serve as the escalation point for rental vehicles, demonstrating strong communication skills and knowing when to escalate appropriately.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast capacity needs and implement process improvements that drive operational excellence.

  • Act as the Single Threaded Leader for all power unit safety incidents and establish standard work for future incidents.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience.

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.

  • Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.

  • Experience communicating with VP-level decision makers and business and technology teams through written proposals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-level negotiations, strategic partnerships, and contract management.

  • Leadership roles in Automotive or Fleet Management.

  • Ability to independently establish OEM relationships and gather benchmarking data to make data-driven product decisions.

  • Ability to work in ambiguous environments and overcome challenges with a high degree of flexibility and professionalism.

  • Proven ability to design workable solutions and drive projects to successful implementation.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with different functional groups, developers, business owners, and senior business leaders.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and maintain strong performance in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
