About the role
Voya has ~400 applications migrating from on-premises data centers to cloud (our target provider is Azure; looking for experience with any cloud provider). The program requires close coordination across application development, infrastructure, cloud engineering, data, security, operations, vendor partners, and business stakeholders. The candidate must be technically conversant enough to understand application, infrastructure, database, network, and security discussions; identify dependencies, risks, issues, and decisions; and keep delivery moving in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Responsibilities
- Drive applications through our factory model: design, remediate, build, test, and migrate.
- Manage application remediation and development efforts required to prepare workloads for migration, including currency/vulnerability, security updates, and cloud standards adherence.
- Coordinate across application development, infrastructure, cloud engineering, networking, database, security, DevOps, operations, and business teams to remove blockers and maintain delivery momentum.
- Ensure migration readiness for each application wave, including environment preparation, connectivity, security controls, monitoring, backup and recovery, cutover planning, rollback planning, and operational handoff.
- Lead cross-functional execution during migration events, cutovers, testing windows, and post-migration support.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale cloud migration, data center exit, infrastructure modernization, or application modernization programs.
- Hands-on program leadership experience coordinating migration work across application, infrastructure, security, network, database, operations, and business teams.
- Experience managing application remediation and development efforts required to support cloud migration readiness and production deployment.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure concepts across compute, storage, networking, databases, load balancing, firewalls, DNS, identity, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and environment provisioning.
- Working knowledge of security capabilities and controls required for cloud migration, including access management, firewalls, web application firewalls, key vaults, certificates, secrets management, and secure connectivity patterns.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, observability, SRE practices, and cloud operating models.
- Ability to actively listen to technical resources, ask probing questions, and identify project dependencies, risks, issues, assumptions, and decisions across application, infrastructure, data, network, and security.
- Demonstrated ability to pivot quickly between technical and business topics, manage competing priorities, and flourish in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic delivery environment.
- Working knowledge of public cloud migration concepts and patterns across Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or similar cloud providers.
- Experience operating in regulated environments with security, compliance, audit, privacy, or risk management requirements.
