Senior Product Manager (US)

About the role
The Senior Product Development Manager is responsible for the launch of new TD Auto Finance products, programs, and services from inception to delivery. This includes understanding the Bank's growth and profitability objectives, idea-generation, high-level requirements gathering, business case development, gaining executive support, and stakeholder management of all impacted teams.
This role is accountable for building the value proposition the business wants to deliver and mapping investments required to get there, including formulating strategy, policy, and overall direction of the product portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a robust understanding of regulatory requirements, customer, market, and industry to deliver product and process innovation to improve the value proposition.
- Develop and implement products, policies, and procedures in a way that enhances the end-to-end customer experience while achieving business objectives.
- Oversee and ensure the clear and effective delivery of products and services to the customer.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for product-related inquiries.
- Lead business plans leveraging Acquisition and Segments teams to increase new account growth and track P&L impact.
- Liaise with partners (e.g., Marketing, Phone Channel, Retail) to understand industry and customer trends; analyze challenges and identify areas of opportunity through customer research, focus groups, and external secondary research.
- Facilitate ideation sessions and build necessary business cases for new product development (NPD), identifying solutions and building stronger plans for growth.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with sales distribution, key internal stakeholders, and/or external partners to ensure customer needs are considered in strategic decisions.
- Lead and facilitate problem-solving sessions with partners and vendors.
- Design end-to-end processes for development, implementation, use, reporting, and feedback on developed products and segments.
- Direct and coordinate market research to determine underlying customer needs and provide input to the development process.
- Participate in the day-to-day management of the product(s), identifying and implementing product features and enhancements, providing business case support for recommendations, and assisting in the strategic development of new initiatives.
- Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for your business area.
- Deliver financial results for the product/product suite via operation of all available levers: pricing, margin, volume, etc. Create and deliver business cases to achieve strategic business results (acquisition, retention, customer experience, engagement, and market share).
- Support Senior Management as a subject matter expert for the product(s) portfolio through all forms of written and verbal presentations (product reviews, planning and forecasting, strategic review sessions).
- Conduct ongoing industry and competitive analysis to obtain market insights and ensure Acquisition Teams are kept informed to remain competitive.
- Keep current on emerging trends/developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools, and techniques.
- Refine product management strategies through detailed analysis of the P&L, ongoing competitive research, and review of marketing/risk management tactics.
- Ensure effective product policies and processes are established to support business processes aligned with risk appetite.
- Oversee product management deliverables within budget and as per the approved product plan, working with business partners to develop the content of those deliverables.
- Champion the development of the annual business plan and the monthly/quarterly forecast process.
- Contribute to and support partner-led projects as identified.
- Participate and collaborate on initiatives with internal and external service providers (IT, operations, legal, compliance, marketing, etc.) to ensure the product meets TD Bank Group objectives and standards.
- Identify and manage risks (market, credit, operational) associated with the product/segment.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with distribution channel owners.
- Comply with Bank and Industry Codes of Conduct.
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or product certificate and/or 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Previous product experience required; experience in leading strategy strongly recommended.
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to conduct product research, product analysis and development, forecasting, pricing, and competitive intelligence.
- Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends.
- Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement, and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of product initiatives.
- Ability to forecast and contribute to the strategic direction of the product management function and provide advice to senior leadership.
- Ability to establish goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
- Skill in mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Pay
