About the role

This role sits within JAX’s Portfolio team and focuses on product and service offerings specific to Neurosciences. Candidates with proven expertise with life science tools serving neurodegeneration, neuromuscular disease, neurodevelopmental disorders, and associated therapeutics are strongly preferred.

The Senior Product Manager drives implementation and expansion of new and existing products to capture and retain market share, ensures seamless product introduction and lifecycle management of assigned product lines. The role will map the pre-clinical research and drug discovery market, quantify market size and opportunity, and conduct voice-of-customer exercises to yield actionable insights for new product development and product improvement initiatives. The Senior Product Manager develops compelling value propositions, partners with marketing on campaigns, and supports sales through tools, training, pricing strategies, and customer visits. The role also participates in financial forecasting, including net, operating, and gross margins, as well as revenue targets in collaboration with leadership.

Daily management of the portfolio involves deal management of sales opportunities, customer communications, quality situation management, acquisition of direct voice-of-customer information, and delivering business guidance for other functional groups.

Responsibilities

  • Procures, analyzes, and synthesizes market information from internal and external resources into new product concept proposals aligned with a broader product strategy, including market segmentation, unmet needs matrix, product positioning, competitive landscape, IP strategy, and sustainability assessment.
  • Oversees day-to-day customer interactions to understand and represent user needs, executing or overseeing process improvements to enhance customer experience.
  • Provides market opportunity assessments, including TAM/SAM/SOM analyses, pricing strategies, and projections of expected returns with clear developmental timelines, investment requirements, milestones, and technical risks.
  • Leads and develops staff, building collaborative relationships with colleagues in R&D, operations, and marketing.
  • Leads commercialization and growth of new business areas through stakeholder influence and integration via a clear sales and marketing plan, refining revenue forecasts and pricing structures.
  • Owns the product strategy and lifecycle management for assigned product platforms and services, conducting market sizing, segmentation, and opportunity assessments to guide investment decisions.
  • Builds and maintains a portfolio roadmap informed by scientific innovation, competitive intelligence, and customer insights.
  • Defines clear value propositions and differentiation strategies against competitors.
  • Partners with marketing to develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new and existing services, driving compelling product messaging, positioning, and content for campaigns and sales tools.
  • Supports training programs for BD and sales teams to ensure consistent and accurate articulation of product value.
  • Provides input into pricing and revenue models to maximize growth and profitability.
  • Works closely with R&D, scientific leaders, and operations to align product offerings with market demand.
  • Engages with customers and key opinion leaders through Voice of Customer programs, advisory boards, and conferences.
  • Partners with corporate development to evaluate partnership or licensing opportunities that strengthen the portfolio.
  • Monitors industry trends, competitive activities, and scientific advancements to anticipate market shifts.
  • Translates complex scientific information into actionable strategies and clear marketing narratives.
  • Tracks product performance against KPIs and makes data-driven recommendations for optimization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Doctorate Degree preferred.
  • Five years of experience in life science tools-focused product management, product marketing, or strategic marketing serving academic, pharmaceutical, and biopharmaceutical customers. Background in neurodegeneration, neuromuscular disease, or neurodevelopmental disorders preferred.
  • Two years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in formulating, communicating, and implementing complex plans and creative problem-solving for product launches and service development.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills to lead teams, develop consensus, and work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent initiative and organizational skills to prioritize complex tasks and use independent judgment under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to make high-stakes decisions with significant financial consequences.
  • Ability to be a positive team player across diverse internal and external organizations.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $85,987 - $143,962, determined based on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

This is a remote position, but the hired candidate will be required to travel to JAX locations, conferences, or meetings up to 30% of the time.
