About the Role

Every year, millions of people come to TrueCar to save time and money buying a car. All of them need insurance, and the current process is broken: long duplicate forms, underwriting delays, unwanted sales calls, and handoffs to third parties. TrueCar is building embedded insurance to fix that.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will build and own the digital product end-to-end, including flows for instant quotes, policy binding, coverage management, and vehicle protection—all without leaving TrueCar’s platform. This is a zero-to-one build opportunity with our Engineering and Design teams. You will report to the VP, Insurance & Ancillary. This is a hybrid role requiring frequent in-person collaboration in our Santa Monica, CA headquarters office.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the digital product end-to-end, driving the vision, technical roadmap, product specifications, and execution for TrueCar’s embedded digital insurance platform across quote, bind, and servicing.
  • Re-engineer how customers interact with insurance by eliminating redundant questionnaires, manual data entry, and processing delays to create a streamlined experience.
  • Deploy AI across all consumer touchpoints, embedding generative AI models, machine learning, and automated processes into quoting, product selection, and policy servicing.
  • Architect partner integrations by collaborating with internal teams and external partners to design, build, and optimize integrations.
  • Extend the approach to ancillary products that help customers protect their vehicles and manage ownership costs.

Requirements

  • Proven product management experience or equivalent experience building and shipping digital products people love to use.
  • A first-principles product mindset: ability to deconstruct complex multi-step processes and rebuild them into simple digital experiences.
  • Technical & API integration fluency: ability to read API docs, specify integration contracts and data schemas, and collaborate with engineers on backend behavior.
  • Experience shipping AI and automation into real products, such as LLMs, document/data extraction, or self-service automation flows.
  • A data-backed thinker who ships: experience launching zero-to-one digital products on fast schedules, writing precise specs, prioritizing technical backlogs, and using analytics to back assumptions.
  • Logic-first product thinking: ability to analyze visual prototypes and identify underlying functional requirements and user experience flows.

Nice to Have

  • Built digital auto insurance flows from quote to bind at a carrier, MGA, or embedded platform.
  • Shipped a regulated consumer product running on partner APIs and automated underwriting.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $128,000 - $171,000 USD per year (US).
