Senior Product Manager, Growth Acquisition (MarTech)
About the role
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to help build and evolve the core platform that powers Dave's banking and payments experience for millions of members. This team owns the systems behind Dave Bank accounts, debit cards, payment processing, and the integrations that connect us with sponsor banks, payment processors, and financial partners.
In this role, you'll help shape the architecture of critical backend services while working closely with product, engineering, and cross-functional partners to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions. You'll have meaningful ownership over systems that directly impact our members' ability to move money confidently and securely while helping establish the technical foundation that supports Dave's continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient backend services using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Own and evolve distributed systems that support banking, card management, payment processing, and partner integrations.
- Architect technical solutions that balance immediate business needs with long-term scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business goals into thoughtful technical solutions.
- Improve platform reliability by proactively identifying risks, optimizing performance, and strengthening observability through logging and monitoring.
- Design efficient data models and storage solutions across SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Participate in code reviews that improve code quality while mentoring teammates through constructive feedback.
- Continuously improve engineering practices by refactoring systems, reducing technical debt, and sharing knowledge across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 4+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend development.
- Professional experience building backend applications with TypeScript and Node.js.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, design patterns, and algorithms.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
- Experience building scalable distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex technical challenges and deliver practical, maintainable solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of collaborating effectively across engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in an agile environment while balancing independent ownership with collaborative execution.
Nice to have
- Experience integrating with enterprise payment processors.
- Experience building systems in PCI-compliant environments or other highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with banking, payment infrastructure, or financial services platforms.
- Curiosity for emerging technologies and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Pay
Compensation Range: $150K - $187K
