Senior Product Manager, AI Receptionist
About Boulevard
Boulevard provides the first and only client experience platform for appointment-based, self-care businesses. We empower our customers to give their clients more of the magical moments that matter most. Our roots are in hair salons, but we serve the broader self-care industry, including salons, spas, medspas, barbershops, and more. Our technology helps these businesses not only survive but thrive.
More than 5,000 businesses use Boulevard, processing over $5 billion in payments annually. We've raised $188M in funding and are scaling fast, with growing ambitions in enterprise and multi-location operators.
Boulevard's AI Receptionist is building a front desk that never misses a call, never drops a message, and always knows what to say—agentic AI that handles client communication across voice and text so businesses can grow faster, operate leaner, and deliver an exceptional experience every time. This role owns that vision end-to-end.
Responsibilities
- Own the AI Receptionist product end-to-end, setting the vision, roadmap, and success criteria for Boulevard's AI Receptionist suite—our answer to the modern contact center for self-care businesses.
- Define how AI engages clients in 1:1 interactions across voice and text, including when it handles conversations autonomously, when it hands off to staff, and how that transition feels seamless to both clients and teams.
- Develop a deep point of view on where AI should handle interactions autonomously, where it should hand off to staff, and how to maintain continuity across channels, design fallback behaviors, and ensure a coherent experience.
- Drive adoption and business outcomes for the AI Receptionist, including revenue, adoption, retention, and key product metrics like autonomous resolution rate, agent productivity, and CSAT. Collaborate on pricing strategy and connect product developments to business impact.
- Represent the customer by developing genuine fluency in how self-care businesses manage client communication today—understanding what they trust, fear, and would delegate, to ensure AI adoption rather than rejection.
Requirements
- 5–8 years in product management with experience in B2B2C or both B2B and B2C environments, understanding how to serve businesses and their end customers simultaneously.
- Experience shipping AI-powered products, including shaping AI behavior, designing for failures, and earning user trust over time.
- LLM fluency—hands-on familiarity with LLMs and prompt design to partner credibly with engineering.
- AI-native in your own practice—using tools like Claude daily, running side projects, and staying close to how the technology evolves.
- Strong voice-of-customer instincts, with experience building products for users skeptical of automation and designing for trust.
- Data fluency—comfortable defining metrics, pulling analysis, and building the case for roadmap decisions with evidence.
- Cross-functional leadership—experience influencing engineering, design, and data teams without relying on authority, and managing multiple workstreams in parallel.
- Clear communication—ability to translate complex AI product decisions into terms that resonate with business owners, partners, and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with conversational AI, voice interfaces, or messaging products.
- Experience in vertical SaaS or services-industry platforms.
- Familiarity with AI quality evaluation—measuring and improving AI conversation quality, not just shipping it.
- A genuine affinity for small businesses—understanding their constraints and what it takes to earn their trust.
Why This Role Matters
The AI Receptionist is one of Boulevard's highest-visibility bets. For self-care businesses, the front-of-house experience—answering calls, responding to texts, knowing when to bring a human in—is where client relationships are made or broken. AI that gets this right is transformative; AI that gets it wrong damages trust overnight. This role offers a rare opportunity to build an AI product with a direct, tangible impact on thousands of small businesses, at a well-funded, fast-growing company early in its AI journey.
