Senior Product Engineer (Full Stack)
About the Role
Doctronic provides free, private AI health guidance and affordable access to human physicians. With millions of consultations already processed, we’re hiring a Senior Product Engineer to build features for patients, clinicians, and healthcare partners. This is a full-stack role, requiring work across frontend, backend, and production systems to deliver complete features.
Responsibilities
- Build patient experiences for onboarding, AI consultations, health records, prescriptions, physician visits, and follow-up care.
- Connect AI consultations with clinical workflows to enable seamless transitions from guidance to treatment.
- Turn clinical and AI capabilities into clear product features with appropriate safeguards.
- Develop tools and integrations for clinicians and healthcare partners.
- Improve performance, accessibility, privacy, and reliability across web and mobile platforms.
- Use coding agents to explore code, plan changes, implement, test, review, debug, and automate repeated work.
- Review product usage and feedback post-launch, then iterate on features.
Requirements
- Experience shipping user-facing products across frontend and backend systems.
- Strong skills in at least one part of the stack and the ability to work effectively in the rest.
- Good product judgment and attention to interface quality.
- Ability to define and deliver solutions with incomplete initial requirements.
- Daily experience directing coding agents, including supplying context, splitting work, verifying results, and deciding when to work directly.
- Habit of turning manual engineering work into scripts, tools, or reusable agent workflows.
- Sound decision-making around privacy, security, accessibility, reliability, and maintainability.
- Clear communication with clinical, product, design, AI, and operations teams.
Qualifications
- Many candidates will have 5+ years of professional experience, but we prioritize shipped products and impact over specific tenure or degrees.
- Experience in healthcare, fintech, AI products, or regulated fields is useful but not required.
Production Stack
Our product includes:
- Next.js, React, and TypeScript for the web application.
- Native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) apps.
- Python and FastAPI services.
- Backend systems using MariaDB, SQLAlchemy, Redis, and Celery.
- Services running in Docker on AWS ECS, integrated with AI providers, telehealth systems, healthcare APIs, and FHIR-based workflows.
How We Work
- Small, senior engineering team with high autonomy.
- Engineers own projects from definition to launch and production support.
- Short planning cycles and frequent releases.
- High standards for patient safety, privacy, and code quality.
Compensation
New York City and San Francisco base salary: $180,000 to $240,000, plus equity. Benefits reimbursement.
