Senior Product Engineer

About the role

Renesas Electronics is seeking an experienced and motivated Product Engineer (PE) to support the technical readiness and manufacturability of embedded MOSFETs in Smart Power Stage (SPS) products. This role spans FET process development, New Product Introduction (NPI), and production phases, collaborating closely with design, test, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure products meet performance, cost, and schedule goals.

Responsibilities

• Support MOSFET silicon validation through the development of scripts, test content, and automated test setups.
• Provide wafer-level test support for MOSFETs used in Smart Power Stages.
• Perform FET characterization at the package level.
• Document test procedures, test reports, and bring-up guidelines.
• Monitor and analyze testing and qualification results to write engineering reports.
• Drive sustaining product COGS improvement and process optimization, including yield, volume, test time, and failure improvements.
• Improve test processes and prevent potential quality excursions.
• Manage and mitigate risk in PCRB (Process Change Review Board) by supporting product qualifications, second-source/material changes, and process migrations/improvements.
• Disposition abnormal lots, low-yielding lots, or production issues.
• Interface cross-functionally with Operations, QA, Reliability, Factory, and OSAT teams.
• Monitor and resolve manufacturing and test issues, working closely with fab, assembly, and test sites.
• Analyze product performance, failure modes, and reliability to support customer returns (RMA/FA).
• Lead the NPI process, coordinating power device product definition, design, fabrication, testing, and qualification from tape-out to production release.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 3+ years of direct experience in MOSFET product engineering.
• Experience using lab tools such as parameter analyzers and curve tracers.
• Understanding of schematics, BOMs, and board layout using tools like Allegro, Altium, or OrCAD.
• Experience with discrete device testing and semiconductor packaging.
• Proficiency with engineering databases, automation, and statistical analysis using software such as JMP.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Perl, or shell) for data logging and automation.
• Familiarity with semiconductor device physics.
• Experience in Development NPI Product Engineering (a plus).
• Understanding of process and product development, wafer-level processing, assembly, and test methods.
