About the role
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state. This role involves leading requirements elicitation and documentation for multiple, large, complex, cross-departmental, multi-phase, and multi-year projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Market Design Specialists to design technologically feasible, functional solutions that meet business and market participant needs within regulatory frameworks and software capabilities.
- Work with business owners, project sponsors, and stakeholders to obtain requirements and achieve optimal solutions considering organizational and customer objectives, regulatory frameworks, and energy industry trends.
- Develop solutions and business requirements that meet customer needs and conform to the principles defined in the NYISO Tariffs and Business and Operational Manuals, ensuring proper requirements traceability through design, development, and testing.
- Provide recommendations to users and customers in prioritizing new development projects, enhancements for existing systems, and system maintenance requests.
- Obtain approval of business, functional, and technical requirements across all business functions.
- Create process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, workflow diagrams, or other business processing models to identify inefficiencies, provide insights, and recommend improvements.
- Review, apply, and ensure compliance with rules and regulations applicable to the electric utilities industry.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
- 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related role.
- 2 years of experience working with external stakeholders to gather and document technical business requirements.
- 2 years of experience creating process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, workflow diagrams, or other business processing models.
- 2 years of experience reviewing, applying, and ensuring compliance with rules and regulations applicable to the electric utilities industry.
Location
Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental U.S. but will report to NYISO headquarters in Rensselaer, NY.
Pay
Salary range: $103,000 – $144,000 USD.
