About the role
We are looking for a Senior Procurement Manager to lead strategic sourcing and commercial management of critical food manufacturing inputs — including commodities, ingredients, oils, sweeteners, and proteins — as well as co-packer and co-manufacturer relationships. This is a highly analytical, market-driven role reporting directly to the VP of Procurement.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Category Leadership
- Lead sourcing strategies for raw materials including commodities, ingredients, oils, sweeteners, and proteins.
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with cost, quality, service, and risk mitigation objectives.
- Own procurement decision-making for direct materials and co-manufacturing/co-packing partnerships.
- Should-Cost & Advanced Cost Analytics
- Build and maintain detailed should-cost models by deconstructing supplier cost drivers (raw materials, processing yields, labor, energy, freight, overhead, and margin).
- Apply total cost of ownership (TCO) frameworks to sourcing decisions, supplier selection, and co-packer evaluations.
- Use data-driven analysis to challenge pricing, identify cost-out opportunities, and support negotiations.
- Market Dynamics & Commodity Intelligence
- Monitor and analyze global and domestic market dynamics impacting commodities, ingredients, oils, sweeteners, and proteins.
- Track commodity indices, supply/demand trends, inflationary pressures, and geopolitical or weather-related risks.
- Translate market intelligence into actionable sourcing strategies, contract structures, and pricing mechanisms.
- Supplier & Co-Packer Management
- Lead supplier and co-packer selection, negotiations, contracting, and performance management.
- Manage complex commercial negotiations including price models, index-based pricing, capacity commitments, and SLAs.
- Drive supplier development initiatives and dual-sourcing strategies to mitigate risk.
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with Operations, Planning, R&D, Quality, Finance, and Engineering to support production, innovation, and business growth.
- Support new product development and line extensions through early ingredient and co-packer engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
- 8+ years of procurement experience in food manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience sourcing commodities, ingredients, oils, sweeteners, and proteins.
- Experience managing co-packers and co-manufacturers.
- Proven track record in supplier negotiations and cost improvement initiatives.
- Strong should-cost analysis and cost breakdown experience.
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience required (SAP preferred).
- Effective communicator and negotiator; comfortable working cross-functionally.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Domestic and international travel required as needed.
- Bilingual Mandarin or Cantonese — a strong plus.
