SENIOR PROCUREMENT MANAGER (INDIRECT PROCUREMENT) Aerospace/Defense

This position is 100% onsite at The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor specializing in military aerospace and vehicle systems. Based in Southern California near Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group comprises Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS), and Marvin Land Systems (MLS).

About the role

The Senior Manager of Indirect Procurement is accountable for strategy, sourcing, negotiation, and purchase of goods and services that support daily business operations but are not part of a final Marvin Engineering product delivered to a customer. This high-visibility role engages regularly with senior leadership and requires expert written and verbal communication skills, complex problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Manages indirect purchases for MEC using best-in-industry practices, including facilities, capital equipment, IT equipment and software, procurement and legal software, other software licenses, travel, security, transportation, real property, insurance, corporate events, cafeteria and vending machines, supplies, and professional services.
• Ensures appropriate work distribution to buyers and manages the team using key performance indicators that meet company and department objectives.
• Identifies and leads indirect purchases that provide the greatest benefit to support the business.
• Establishes and maintains a robust indirect procurement team to meet current and future business needs.
• Identifies critical suppliers and establishes long-term agreements (LTAs) where beneficial.
• Develops best-in-class indirect procurement processes and ensures company-wide compliance.
• Ensures purchases undergo robust competition and negotiation.
• Balances risks, makes decisions that serve Marvin’s business interests, and solves complex problems with urgency.
• Collaborates with facilities, IT, production, and other cross-functional departments to ensure robust processes, compliance, best value, and timely resolution.
• Reviews and potentially implements contracts management tools, centralized travel, procurement tools, vending or cafeteria services, and other value-add opportunities.
• Performs other activities as assigned by the Director or VP of Procurement.

Requirements

• Uncompromising integrity and accountability.
• Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience, including 5 years as a people-manager. Alternatively, a master’s degree or higher and 6 years of experience, including 3 years as a people-manager.
• 2 years of experience in Aerospace, Defense, or another highly regulated industry.
• Excellent coaching skills with a track record of success.
• Strong analytical skills, including cost and price analysis, and the ability to identify and present key trends to leadership.
• Complex problem-solving ability, working well both independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Excellent organizational skills and experience developing and managing to KPIs.
• High emotional intelligence and expertise in complex problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Strong evidence of contracts negotiation expertise, including complex negotiations and significant cost savings.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree or paralegal training and experience (helpful but not required).
• DFAR/FAR experience (a plus but not required).

Work Environment

• Medium-to-large office environment.
• Fast-paced with a moderate noise level.
• Exposure to a combination of normal office environments.

Pay

Base Salary Range (Inglewood only): $150,000 - $175,000

Travel

5%-25%, primarily domestic, with the possibility of infrequent international travel.
