About the role

The Senior Manager of Indirect Procurement is accountable for strategy, sourcing, negotiation, and purchase of goods and services that support daily business operations but are not part of a final Marvin Engineering product delivered to a customer. This high-visibility position regularly engages with senior leadership and requires expert written and verbal communication skills, complex problem-solving ability, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage indirect purchases for Marvin Engineering Co. (MEC) using best-in-industry practices, including facilities, capital equipment, IT hardware/software, procurement and legal software, travel, security, transportation, real property, insurance, corporate events, cafeteria/vending services, supplies, and professional services.
  • Oversee a small team of indirect buyers, ensuring appropriate work distribution and management by key performance indicators that meet company and department objectives.
  • Identify and lead indirect purchases that provide the greatest benefit to the business, both for immediate needs and future growth.
  • Establish and maintain a robust indirect procurement team capable of meeting evolving business requirements.
  • Identify critical suppliers and establish long-term agreements (LTAs) where beneficial.
  • Develop and enforce best-in-class indirect procurement processes, ensuring company-wide compliance.
  • Ensure all purchases undergo robust competition and negotiation to achieve best value.
  • Balance risks, make decisions that serve Marvin’s business interests, and solve complex problems with urgency.
  • Collaborate with facilities, IT, production, and other cross-functional departments to ensure robust processes, compliance, and timely resolution.
  • Evaluate and potentially implement tools for contracts management, centralized travel, procurement, vending, or cafeteria services to add value to MEC’s indirect procurement.
  • Perform other activities as assigned by the Director or VP of Procurement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience, including 5 years as a people-manager. Alternatively, a master’s degree or higher and 6 years of experience, including 3 years as a people-manager.
  • 2 years of experience in Aerospace, Defense, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Proven expertise in contracts and negotiations, with strong analytical skills, including cost and price analysis.
  • Ability to proactively identify and present key trends to leadership.
  • Complex problem-solving skills, working effectively both independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience developing and managing to KPIs.
  • High emotional intelligence and uncompromising integrity and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong evidence of contracts negotiation expertise, including complex negotiations and significant cost savings.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree, paralegal training, or related experience (helpful but not required).
  • DFAR/FAR experience (a plus but not required).

Work Environment

  • Medium-to-large, fast-paced office environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Exposure to a combination of normal office environments.

Pay

Base salary range: $150,000 – $175,000 (Inglewood, CA only).

Schedule

Travel requirements: 5%–25%, primarily domestic with infrequent international travel.
