About the role

  • Lead process design on projects ranging from treatment and conveyance systems to industrial water/wastewater treatment and utility systems.
  • Perform day-to-day process technical work, project planning, and management of scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop critical project objectives and performance goals; interact with clients on technical matters as needed.
  • Support client development and technical sales, proposal preparation, and technical presentations; coordinate with regulatory agencies as applicable.
  • Expand career growth opportunities within a rapidly growing national water practice.
  • Plan, organize, and communicate project technical needs to department management; mentor junior staff.
  • Provide support to design-build project deliveries for water and wastewater projects in collaboration with Burns & McDonnell’s Construction/Design-Build group.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of related process engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
  • Alternatively, Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years of related process engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
  • Alternatively, Master's Degree in Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering and 6 years of related process engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
  • Background in water or wastewater process engineering, including treatment systems, plant facilities, or industrial water utilities preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public clients is preferred. Existing relationships with local or statewide clients is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of process design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Experience with process simulation software (i.e., Hysys and/or Aspen, HTRI) is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
  • Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
  • Ability to travel (25% of the time).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.

This position is full-time and located in Kansas City, MO, with other possible locations in Omaha, NE.
