Staff Process Engineer - Water/Wastewater (Kansas City | Omaha)

Burns & McDonnell’s growing Water Practice is in search of a Water/Wastewater Process Engineer. Our passion started with water, and our solutions continue to evolve with the ever-changing needs of municipal and industrial clients.

Responsibilities

• Perform process design on projects ranging from treatment and conveyance systems to industrial water/wastewater treatment and utility systems.
• Develop and apply technical approaches for treatment systems and facility processes.
• Execute day-to-day process engineering tasks, project planning, and management of scope, schedule, and budget.
• Develop project objectives and performance goals; communicate technical information to clients as needed.
• Support client development, proposal preparation, technical presentations, and coordination with regulatory agencies.
• Contribute to growth within the Regional and National Water Practice.
• Organize and communicate project technical needs to department management; mentor junior staff as appropriate.
• Provide technical support for design-build project deliveries in collaboration with Burns & McDonnell’s Construction/Design-build group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related engineering degree from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of process engineering experience required, consulting experience preferred.
• Or, related Master Degree and 2 years of process engineering experience required, consulting experience preferred.
• Experience with water or wastewater process engineering, including treatment systems, plant facilities, or industrial water utilities preferred.
• Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
• Strong computer skills include process simulation software (i.e. Hysys and/or Aspen).
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.

Pay

This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
