Job Overview
The Senior Process Engineer position is responsible for enabling a consistent "design anywhere, build anywhere" philosophy across OmniOn Power's manufacturing sites. The role drives a common global manufacturing approach through standardized equipment, aligned processes, and cross-site collaboration, supporting products from New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) through production, decline, and end-of-manufacturing stages. This is primarily an oversight and strategic enablement role.
Responsibilities
- Build and develop plant manufacturing teams in support of the Director of Manufacturing Excellence, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and cross-site knowledge sharing.
- Standardize the global manufacturing equipment supply base and document shared equipment capabilities across all manufacturing sites.
- Develop and maintain a long-term automation roadmap that aligns with business growth targets, R&D product development priorities, and the evolving needs of AI and data center customers.
- Establish design-for-automation (DFA) manufacturing requirements and implement a structured review process covering all R&D development stages, including NTI, NPI, and full product lifecycle transitions.
- Support and align Factory NPI Leaders and PCB DFM owners across manufacturing sites.
- Review and approve manufacturing process checklists at NPI gate reviews; Factory NPI Leaders own day-to-day checklist management and execution.
- Partner with R&D and Principal Engineering to embed manufacturability and automation readiness into product designs from the earliest development stages.
- Provide DFM oversight at a global level while PCBA DFM execution is performed by the plant NPI Leader at the site where the PCBA will be built.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by management.
- Occasional domestic and international travel as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
- Minimum 5 years of SMT manufacturing experience, with demonstrated expertise in process development, optimization, and continuous improvement.
Desired Characteristics
- Technical knowledge of SMT equipment, solder chemistry, reflow profiling, stencil design, pick-and-place, AOI, X-ray inspection, and defect mitigation.
- Proven experience supporting or leading NPI programs, including DFM/DFA reviews and gate processes across product lifecycle stages.
- Experience with CAPEX planning, automation justification, and manufacturing roadmap development.
- Ability to analyze process cycle times, labor content, and throughput data to drive balanced automation and resource decisions.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority across global, matrixed organizations.
- Experience developing and reviewing manufacturing KPIs related to quality, throughput, and productivity.
- Experience in power conversion, telecommunications, or data center electronics manufacturing environments.
- SMTA Certification (Certified SMT Process Engineer) or active pursuit of certification.
- IPC Certification (CIS, CIT, or equivalent) through IPC/Global Electronics Association.
- Experience managing or aligning global, multi-site manufacturing operations.
- Leverage Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).
- Familiarity with AI-driven manufacturing analytics, automation platforms, or smart factory technologies relevant to PCB assembly.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred for Matamoros plant site engagement.
