Senior Process Engineer at NQCP
- Develop wafer-scale epitaxy and/or fabrication processes in close collaboration with Design, Growth, Fabrication Development, Characterization and Quantum Platform Integration teams.
- Build capabilities to analyse and test new devices.
- Implement and document in-process work streams, protocol instructions, tests & specifications.
- Analyse correlations between processes (process parameters/conditions, metrology data).
- Track variation and process capability, identify and support continuous improvement initiatives towards tool and process improvement.
- Analyse requirements against existing capabilities and estimate risks and yields for new processes.
- Specify tasks and lead activities with external suppliers and partners.
Qualifications
- Masters/Ph.D in material science, electronics, physics or related.
- 3+ years' experience in microelectronics, photonics or MEMS.
- Experience in nanofabrication techniques including lithography, etching methods, thin film deposition, thinning, and bonding.
- Experience in structural device characterization (e.g. XRD, AFM, …).
- Proficient in data tracking and analysis methods (e.g., six sigma concepts).
- Ability to assume a technical lead role while driving an innovative culture and growth mindset.
- Optional: experience in MBE growth of oxides, and Photonic Integrated Circuit design and processes.
About the role
As part of the POEM facility, located at the new Niels Bohr Building, where NQCP together with its partner RIBER develop new oxide materials and related quantum devices, we are seeking an experienced process engineer to build and support new processing capabilities towards innovative qubit devices.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) is establishing a talented and diverse international team to create a cutting-edge quantum programme in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, where the formulation of Quantum Mechanics was born 100 years ago, we aim to establish an international quantum computing programme, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, that will drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing scalable quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications. The long-term mission of the programme is to develop fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve life-science-relevant chemical and biological problems.

Terms of employment
The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The employment will be as an academic employee or special consultant and the salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working hours are 37 hours per week on average and are flexible. The position is limited to 31 December 2029.
