Senior Principal Product Owner
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Principal Product Owner to join a high-performing Agile Release Train (ART) supporting Amtrak's digital transformation initiatives. This team is responsible for delivering automation and innovation across the Labor Management domain, building digital solutions that empower frontline employees and enhance the customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the voice of the customer by owning and managing the team product backlog.
- Develop and communicate product vision aligned with business objectives and customer needs.
- Prioritize features and user stories based on business value, customer feedback, and technical feasibility.
- Translate business requirements into well-defined user stories, features, and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, UX, and Architecture teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to ensure alignment on product priorities.
- Cook up with other Product Owners across the Agile Release Train (ART).
- Champion SAFe Agile principles and best practices.
- Contribute to product roadmap planning, PI Planning, and release milestones.
- Define, monitor, and analyze product success metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Facilitate communication between business and technical teams to ensure successful product delivery.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as an Agile Product Owner or Product Manager.
- 3+ years of Product Ownership/Product Management experience within a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment in a large enterprise.
- SAFe 6.0 Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) Certification preferred, or equivalent SAFe Product Ownership experience.
- Experience managing product backlogs and prioritizing user stories.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and the SAFe Framework.
- Experience gathering business requirements and writing user stories with acceptance criteria.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to make data-driven prioritization decisions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The position is a full-time contract role with remote work options. Quarterly travel to the Northeast corridor (typically Washington, DC or Wilmington, DE) for PI Planning is required.
