About the Role

A Senior Preconstruction Manager is responsible for leading and managing multiple projects, working with a team of preconstruction managers and shared resources to deliver exceptional results to our clients. They oversee day-to-day execution, providing preconstruction services from initial program design to final construction documents. This includes feasibility studies, budget estimates, comparative studies, value engineering, and presentations to internal and external clients. As a leader, the Senior Preconstruction Manager embodies The HITT Way, setting an example for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple project teams in all aspects of bid and budget deliverables.
  • Prepare and analyze pricing proposals, considering market conditions, historical data, material escalation, and subcontractor input.
  • Manage the design and preconstruction phase with stakeholders, including owners, design teams, consultants, and HITT operations, to transition projects into the construction phase.
  • Conduct presentations and interviews with clients, including strategic preparation.
  • Identify opportunities to control or reduce costs and ensure complete proposals by understanding construction drawings, specifications, and missing elements.
  • Understand project scheduling (P6), phasing, and logistical planning.
  • Interpret geotechnical reports and ensure compliance with Building Code and LEED Requirements.
  • Coach, train, and educate preconstruction team members.
  • Sustain existing client relationships and develop new ones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
  • At least 7 years of related commercial construction work experience.
  • Experience as the lead preconstruction manager on several projects.
  • Proven leadership experience, including developing and coaching others.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience with On Screen Take-off (OST) and Adobe products, including Bluebeam.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling (P6), phasing, and logistical planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical reports, Building Code, and LEED Requirements.

This position typically reports to the Vice President of Preconstruction or Preconstruction Executive and directly supervises preconstruction managers, assistant managers, and project engineers.
