Senior Power Systems Engineer
Job Summary
The Senior Power Systems Engineer is a key technical leader within ProPetro’s PROPWR organization, responsible for the design, integration, and validation of electrical systems across multiple equipment platforms. This includes developing documentation that outlines troubleshooting procedures for field employees, creating integration drawings for electrical systems, and providing remote support to personnel needing SME assistance for equipment in operation. The Senior Power Systems Engineer also leads testing programs, ensuring all systems are thoroughly evaluated and verified prior to field deployment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and high-performance electrical systems across the PROPWR fleet.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, integration, and testing of electrical systems and sub-systems across various PROPWR equipment types.
- Develop milestones and track progress to achieve objectives.
- Serve as the SME for system integration testing, commissioning, and performance validation.
- Act as the lead on various power systems engineering projects and initiatives.
- Create and maintain diagrams and technical resources, including:
- Troubleshooting Equipment SOP’s
- Single-line diagrams
- Equipment training
- Integration testing
- Design medium voltage cable assemblies and interconnection methods
- Provide sustained engineering and troubleshooting of equipment operating in-field.
- Interact with vendors and third-party suppliers.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to junior engineers on power systems design principles, analysis tools, and project management practices.
- Partner and collaborate with various stakeholders within PROPWR and ProPetro.
- Identify potential technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Develop training material and deliver technical presentations, as required.
- Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent degree required.
- 7-years’ experience with electrical systems, required.
- Great understanding of the NEC.
- Knowledgeable of the NESC and NFPA 70E.
- Experience in the development of electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
- Worked on AC systems up to 15kV and DC systems up to 120V.
- Experience with recip generators or turbines, strongly preferred.
- Perform root cause analysis and provide corrective actions.
- Experience working in field operations and troubleshooting medium voltage equipment.
- Skilled with electrical measurement devices, instrumentation and tooling.
- Proven project management skills and ability to collaborate with others.
- Proficient with Visio, SmartDraw or similar diagramming tools.
- Experience with electrical CAD software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and wide variety of software programs.
- Possess extreme sense of ownership and highly collaborative.
- Willing to train team members and dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Responsive, action-oriented, and agile in decision making.
- Willingness to travel within the Permian Basin (West Texas and Southeast New Mexico) and Houston as needed.
