About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Power Electronics Engineer to help shape the next generation of programmable DC power supplies and high-voltage products at our Neptune, New Jersey facility. In this role, you'll take ownership of power electronics designs from concept through production—evaluating circuit topologies, developing and validating designs, solving complex technical challenges, and adapting existing products to meet customer requirements. You'll also provide technical leadership to junior engineers and technicians while supporting products throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead new power electronics product development from concept through final production release.
- Evaluate power circuit topologies to achieve the optimal balance of performance, reliability, and cost.
- Design, simulate, analyze, prototype, and test power converter circuits.
- Develop and validate high-power and high-voltage power supply designs.
- Perform functional, safety, reliability, and performance testing across specified operating conditions.
- Create engineering test plans, document results, and manage design changes.
- Modify existing programmable DC power supply and high-voltage products to meet custom requirements.
- Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis on field-returned products.
- Support customers with technical and application-related issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and laboratory technicians.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other cross-functional teams.
- Design products to meet performance, cost, safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant power electronics engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Hands-on experience designing, debugging, and testing power converters.
- Experience with magnetics design and control-loop design.
- Strong understanding of power semiconductor technologies.
- Experience with circuit simulation and engineering analysis tools.
- Proficiency with at least one of the following: LTspice, OrCAD PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, or Mathcad.
- Understanding of power supply safety standards and design requirements.
- Familiarity with PCB design and electronic hardware development.
- Understanding of EMC considerations associated with high-frequency switching and applicable compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing high-power converters in the 1 kW–50 kW range.
- Experience designing or supporting high-voltage products with outputs greater than 1 kV.
- Advanced degree or technical certification in a related engineering discipline.
- Experience supporting products from development through production and post-release.
- Experience providing technical mentorship or leadership within an engineering environment.
