SENIOR PLUMBING ESTIMATOR

Responsibilities

• Reading and understanding project specifications and drawings.
• Provide projects material takeoffs and pricing.
• Attend project site surveys and walks.
• Input missing information in the bid documents.
• Completing the design with intent.
• Provide conceptual drawings of material take-offs showing design intent.
• Must stay current with all estimating software and attend training courses as needed and/or required.
• Provides the VP of Estimating quantitative material take-offs and inputs information into spreadsheets.
• Ensures smooth and timely estimates.
• Collaborates with vendors and subcontractors to secure scopes and pricing including but not limited to calling and/or meeting with them to discuss their scope of work.
• Able to clearly write scope letters.
• Finalize project estimates from the direction of the VP of Estimating.
• Provides detailed and complete information to operations leaders for smooth project turnovers, including all quantitative take-offs, quotations, and email correspondence.

Qualifications And Experience

• Experience/Qualifications Required: 12 years’ experience in commercial plumbing, heating, and or fire protection estimating, or completion of approved apprenticeship program and 5 years’ experience as a Journeyman.
• 8-12 years prior estimating experience.

Job Skills

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
• Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation, sheet metal, HVAC, or fire protection (as assigned).
• Good math ability.
• Good computer skills (knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook).
• Detail oriented.
• Good time management.
• Understanding confidentiality.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to learn new systems and technologies (Trimble Viewpoint and/or QuickPen, Autodesk Est-MEP, and QuoteSoft experience preferred, Bluebeam experience preferred).
• Able to conduct scope reviews with clients/customers.
• Able to communicate on a professional level in front of peers, co-workers, and customers.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, required.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or finance and/or equivalent associate degree in project management.
• Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent experience.
• Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent experience.
• Journeyman Fire Protection license or equivalent experience.

Physical Requirements

• Eyesight correctable to 20/50
• Capable of job site tours, climbing ladders and on/off equipment, etc.

Special Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• OSHA 30 hours.
• Required to work onsite within office location.
• May require travel between office locations as needed.
