Senior Plumbing Designer

Core Responsibilities

• Design plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and other complex facilities.
• Perform engineering analyses, calculations, equipment selections, and system studies.
• Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, participate in project planning, and support construction administration.
• Contribute to project delivery by supporting schedule, quality, and client expectations.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across Mazzetti offices.
• Share technical knowledge and collaborate with engineers and designers throughout the organization.
• Participate in quality control reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor junior designers and emerging plumbing professionals as experience allows.

Work Location & Travel Requirements

This is a hybrid position based in the Atlanta, GA area, involving primarily working from home, client site visits throughout Georgia, and occasional presence in our Atlanta office for project collaboration and team-building activities. Travel requirements are approximately 10–20%.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent plumbing design experience.
• 8+ years of plumbing engineering or plumbing design experience within the AEC consulting industry.
• Demonstrated experience designing plumbing systems for healthcare or other complex facilities.
• Experience designing medical gas systems is strongly preferred.
• Experience with fire protection system design and coordination is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience preparing construction documents and supporting projects through construction.

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of plumbing building systems, including familiarity with fire protection systems and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Thorough understanding of applicable plumbing codes and industry standards.
• Advanced proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Familiarity with sustainable, resilient, and high-performance building design principles.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Salary

The typical salary range for a Senior Plumbing Designer based in the greater Atlanta, Georgia area is $100,000 - $170,000 per year. We offer a competitive compensation structure and will evaluate final compensation based on relevant experience and skills in alignment with internal equity and market data.
