About the role
This permanent full-time position is available at Capital Power's Arlington Valley plant. The role is focused on engineering support and project planning, with opportunities for innovation and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Maintain plant performance and heat balance for continuous output and efficiency improvements.
- Review, understand, apply, and develop internal engineering guidelines, procedures, and standards at the site level.
- Contribute to project planning and execution throughout all phases, including front-end input and post-implementation support.
- Collaborate with corporate Engineering teams and build relationships with other work groups to integrate sound Asset Engineering practices.
- Act as the site NERC Compliance Officer, including reporting and interfacing with the Capital Power Compliance Team and external stakeholders.
- Owning the Management of Change program at the site level.
- Provide O&M feedback to the engineering group to advance facility issue solutions.
- Evaluate economic benefits of proposed technical solutions and recommend alternate solutions.
- Implement safe and effective engineering solutions related to plant emissions, control systems, equipment failures, and equipment optimization.
- Improve technical and management skills through formal and informal training opportunities.
Requirements
- Completed Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Process, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 8 years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years in an operating plant setting.
- Advanced understanding of pressure piping and vessel design, maintenance, and compliance to codes and standards.
- Thorough understanding of maintenance processes, methods, and techniques applicable in an industrial setting, particularly power plants.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
Qualifications
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States of America.
- Pre-employment drug test and adherence to the Fit for Duty program are required for safety-sensitive positions.
Skills
- Experience with Pressure piping and vessel design, maintenance, and compliance to codes and standards.
- Understanding of Rotating equipment and related engineering/technical knowledge (vibration, lube, thermography).
- Knowledge of maintenance processes, methods, and techniques in an industrial setting, specifically power plants.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
