About the role
The Senior Planner position is part of the Edward Jones Generations™ team, which provides comprehensive financial planning and services to high net worth clients. This role requires a strong background in financial planning and a commitment to delivering personalized, holistic financial plans.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a conduit between the financial advisor, client, and home office stakeholders to achieve client objectives.
- Leverage the team and external experts to deliver a personalized financial plan with tax and legal advice.
- Partner with financial advisors to lead the team in delivering an end-to-end high net worth client experience.
- Engage in client goal discovery, formulate financial planning recommendations, and act as a fiduciary to the client's financial plan.
- Develop and execute team objectives, accountability measures, and drive team performance.
- Lead strategy and presentations to multiple communication and presentation venues, delivering customized solutions and plans.
- Act as an advanced subject matter expert in financial planning, discovery, and other areas of client-specific emphasis.
- Provide strategic thought, leadership, and execution, leading a cross-functional team of Edward Jones associates.
Requirements
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation required.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or law required.
- 10+ years of industry-specific experience required.
- Series 7, 66 licenses required within 6 months of hire.
- Insurance license required within 6 months of hire.
- Travel required up to 20%.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (CPA, JD, CFA, or additional financial planning certification) preferred.
- Experience living within a commutable distance from Tempe, AZ or St. Louis, MO preferred.
Skills
- Strong background in financial planning and complex financial planning concepts.
- Proficiency in financial planning software or tools and interpreting results.
- Ability to explain and coach on complex concepts in an understandable and actionable manner.
- Expert understanding of financial planning topics, including goals planning, income planning, estate and tax planning, protection, etc.
- Ability to perform as a subject matter expert on advanced and evolving topics.
- Experience in content development and formal training programs.
