About the Role

The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline performs evaluations for piping systems in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.7, and other applicable codes. This role provides senior-level technical support by performing complex engineering tasks, including:

  • Vibration monitoring and analysis to evaluate system operational vibrations, provide prevention and mitigation solutions, and design improvements.
  • Evaluation of hydraulic transients, thermal stratification effects, operability evaluations, and qualification of piping for hydrodynamic loads.
  • Pipe rupture evaluations, assessment of pipe wall thinning due to flow accelerated corrosion (FAC) or microbiologically induced corrosion (MIC), and pipe flaw evaluations.

Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing complex calculations and designs, monitoring assigned staff, and ensuring project requirements are met. This position supports engineering design projects with a focus on delivering high-quality, client-responsive solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex engineering calculations and system/structural designs.
  • Develop design input for drawing production (e.g., P&IDs and Master Diagrams) and review design input for simple systems/structures.
  • Perform engineering reviews of drawings and prepare equipment and material specifications.
  • Conduct bid evaluations for systems and larger components, and prepare calculations to support economic evaluations.
  • Solicit data from vendors and prepare/review reports and studies.
  • Develop single-discipline/simple-scope project budgets, schedules, and work plans, and monitor progress to ensure completion within budget and on schedule.
  • Provide input to proposals and communicate technical information clearly in written and oral formats.
  • Lead teams in using modern tools such as automation, AI, and data-driven workflows to improve efficiency and reduce rework.
  • Oversee engineers who automate tasks (e.g., using Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel) and review automated outputs.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with an emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, or finite element analysis.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in piping engineering and analysis.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel (B&PV) Section III piping codes.
  • Working knowledge of pipe supporting elements and commercially available piping products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software.
  • Knowledge of gas dynamics, hydraulic transients, and pipe condition assessment.
  • Experience with ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical ADP.
  • Background in automation, AI, or agentic AI tools for engineering workflows, including programming/scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
  • Minor, certificate, or experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Software Engineering.

Schedule

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office work 3 days per week.

Pay

Compensation range: $84,762 - $129,498 per year. Eligible positions may also participate in a yearly discretionary bonus.
