About the role
The Senior Pharmacy Technician position at Optum involves performing a wide range of routine and complex pharmaceutical duties in support of pharmacy operations. This role requires assuming a lead role among support staff within the pharmacy, relieving the Pharmacist of duties related to the intake of new prescription information and handling of Schedule II controlled substances according to MA Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support pharmacists by processing prescriptions, entering data, and preparing medications including compounding and labeling
- Deliver excellent customer service during medication pick-up, payment processing, and counseling offers
- Manage inventory, receive and inspect shipments, price and store medications, and restock clinical areas
- Administer vaccines, report safety events, and contribute to quality improvement and departmental initiatives
- Collaborate effectively with the pharmacy team, uphold compliance with regulations, and maintain required certifications
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Massachusetts
- Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician through PTCB, CPhT, or NHA or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
- Certified in Immunization Administration by an ACPE accredited training program or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
- 1+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a retail pharmacy or outpatient pharmacy setting

Pay
The hourly pay for this role will range from $18 - $32 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
